Summer Camp Session 4: July 22-July 26

July 22-26

Morning Session: 8:00 am-12:00 pm (ages 6-9)

Sensory Overload

Things are not always what they seem.  Why does food taste differently when you have a cold?  Can you see sound?  Every day we use our senses to explore the world around us.  Through demonstrations, experiments and hands-on exploration, we will use the senses to explore various science concepts while having lots of fun!

Morning Session: 8:00 am-12:00 pm (ages 10-12)

Spectacular Sculptures II

Explore the world of sculpture.  Learn sculptural techniques through fun filled projects that focus on developing 3-dimensional artwork.  Work with various materials to build objects that bring your imagination alive.  Explore creating unique objects like treasure chest containers that look like dessert, or kinetic mobiles and more while learning valuable skills in sculpture.  Activities are designed for campers ages 10-12.

Rockin’ Rockets

Many of us have watched a rocket launch into space.  Today’s space rockets are a result of more than 2000 years of invention, experimentation and imagination.  Crew members will build and launch several different types of rockets and learn the history of the mighty rocket.  Get ready to blast off to a great week of fun and learning!

Afternoon Session: 1:00 pm-5:00 pm (ages 6-9)

Spectacular Sculptures I

Explore the world of 3D Art… Sculpture!  Learn sculptural techniques through fun filled projects that focus on developing 3-dimensional artwork.  Work with various materials to build objects that bring your imagination alive.  Explore creating unique objects like paper-mache masks or kinetic mobiles all while learning valuable skills in sculpture.  Activities are designed for campers ages 6-9.

Living and Working in Space

What challenges do astronauts experience living and working in space and on the International Space Station (ISS)?  This workshop will explore what astronauts eat, why it is important to exercise in space, sanitation and sleeping habits. Crew members will make their own space food and work on experiments similar to the ones performed on the ISS.  Come and experience what it is like to be an astronaut.

Afternoon Session: 1:00 pm-5:00 pm (ages 10-12)

Grossology

Burps, farts, boogers, scat, scabs… all the things we usually think of as gross but are actually really important to the function of our bodies.  Come and join us for the grossest time of your life!
