Intergenerational Interludes

Join DISCOVERY Children's Museum and Cleveland Clinic Nevada for this VIRTUAL Music collaboration! These sessions are completely FREE, but guests are encouraged to attend all of the following six sessions, which run on Tuesdays from 1:30 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.:

  • February 2nd
  • February 9th
  • February 16th
  • February 23rd

Participants ages birth to five and their caretakers will enjoy music, dance, movement and play during this VIRTUAL interactive experience on Zoom! 

Participants who register for this FREE program may pick up their instruments at DISCOVERY on January 15, 2021, and drop off their instruments at DISCOVERY on February 24, 2021, between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. FREE Museum stay and play is permitted on instrument pick-up and drop-off days for up to two caretakers and two children registered for the workshop. Face masks are required on Museum play days for all visitors ages 2 and up.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day Programming

  • Time: Ongoing throughout the Day

  • Gallery: Toddler Town – Level 1
  • Description: Celebrate this holiday and Martin Luther King, Jr.’s dream of unity by creating a unity flower made from your own hands.

  • Time: Ongoing throughout the Day
  • Location: Creative Stations
  • Gallery: Young at Art – Level 3
  • Description: Join us as we celebrate civil rights activist, Doctor Martin Luther King Jr., by creating a painting inspired by unity.

  • Time: Ongoing throughout the Day
  • Location: Presentation Space
  • Gallery: Patents Pending – Level 3
  • Description: Join us as we remember the famous speech “I Have a Dream,” by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This famous and passionate speech called for jobs, economic freedom, and an end to racism in the United States. Celebrate Black History Month by placing your dream on our thought board.

Mix it Up! Story Time – Special for Little Learners 5 and Younger

  • Time: 10:30am and 1:30pm 
  • Location: Art Zone
  • Gallery: Toddler Town – Level 1
  • Description: Join us for an engaging read-aloud accompanied by colorful illustrations. Create unique symmetrical designs as you mix, blend and transform colors.

A Closer Look at Art: Color & Shape

  • Time: 11:00am
  • Location: Presentation Space
  • Gallery: Young at Art – Level 3
  • Description: Join us as we learn the value of color and shape through a fun and engaging exploration. Then learn how to incorporate them into art!

Rhythm of Your Heart - At the Science Bench

  • Time: 11:30am
  • Location: Presentation Space
  • Gallery: Patents Pending – Level 3
  • Description: Learn how our heart works while exploring the four chambers and their purposes. Learn some fun facts about your heart and how to keep it healthy!

DNA Detectives

  • Time: 12:30pm
  • Location: Presentation Space
  • Gallery: Solve It – Level 3
  • Description: DNA detectives are also known as forensic scientists. Learn all about Deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) and how scientists use it to solve mysteries.

Navigating the Ship

  • Time: 1:00pm
  • Location: Stage Area
  • Gallery: Fantasy Festival – Level 1
  • Description: Set sail with us and explore navigation. Learn map reading skills and use a compass to locate treasure!

Build it Up!

  • Time: 2:00pm
  • Location: Presentation Space
  • Gallery: DISCOVERY Lab – Level 2
  • Description: Join us as we use the design thinking process during a collaborative building challenge, and test the strength of your structure!

Currency Counts

  • Time: 2:30pm
  • Location: Presentation Space
  • Gallery: Eco City – Level 2
  • Description: Explore the names and values of United States coins. Practice sorting and counting combinations of currency too!

Discover Chemistry - At the Science Bench

  • Time: 3:00pm 
  • Location: Presentation Space
  • Gallery: Patents Pending – Level 3
  • Description: Discover how chemicals behave and more, as we explore amazing reactions with incredible liquids, mysterious powders and fascinating gases.

Cody Gets Lost in the Desert Puppet Show

  • Time: 4:00pm
  • Location: Riseman Family Theatre 
  • Gallery: Fantasy Festival – Level 1
  • Description: Meet some of the interesting animals that live in the Mohave Desert as Cody the coyote searches for his family.

3D Printshop

  • Time: 10:30am, 12:30pm & 2:30pm
  • Location: Tech Lab
  • Gallery: DISCOVERY Lab
  • Description: Spark that creative engineer in every child's mind, and DISCOVER the world of 3D printing! Learn about free design software and other online resources, see a 3D printer in action, and select a sample model of your choice to print and take home! $6.00 General Admission or $3.00 Members. Recommended for ages 8 and up.
