Volunteer to Play!

Volunteers are a critical part of the DISCOVERY Children’s Museum’s ability to provide the community with a quality experience at the museum. DISCOVERY Children’s Museum is always looking for energetic and enthusiastic people who are searching for a unique and fun work environment. Whether you are a high school student looking to complete community service hours for school credit and gain work experience or an adult looking for a valuable way to spend some free time, we welcome you!

We have opportunities available for both high school teens (ages 14-17) and adults (18+). We do not accept court ordered community service requests. The following is a brief description of each program:

CURRENT VOLUNTEERS

Once you have completed Orientation you will have access to our online portal. You will be able to create a customized volunteer schedule, sign-up for schedule openings, update your profile information, and receive important messages. Click here to enter the Volunteer Portal.

TEEN VOLUNTEERS

Teen Volunteers are individuals ages 14-17 who are currently enrolled in high school that are interested in gaining community service hours or work experience by supporting the museum.  Click here for more information on the Teen Volunteer Program.

YOUTHWORKS INTERNSHIP

The YouthWorks Internship is a program designed for at-risk, high school students, ages 15-17 years old. This program affords teens with a chance to gain educational enrichment, learn new skills and start an employment portfolio, while developing personal and professional growth experiences.  Click here for more information on YouthWorks Internship.

ADULT VOLUNTEERS

The Adult Volunteer Program is for those 18 years and older who are looking for a unique and fun place to spend their valuable free time.  There are a variety of roles available.  Click here for more information on the Adult Volunteer Program.

The success and sustainability of your volunteer program will depend on your ability to retain and celebrate volunteers and maintain momentum for your project. At DCM we pride ourselves on recognizing the hard work and commitment that volunteers make to our facility each week. Effective September 1, 2018, as volunteers accumulate hours they become eligible to receive a number of different DCM rewards.
