Volunteer to Play!
*Please note: As we continue to practice social distancing in the wake of COVID-19, the teen orientation currently scheduled for May 2020 has been canceled. We are, however, still accepting volunteer applications and will notify those selected of the next orientation date once it’s been set.
The Teen Volunteer Program is for high school students ages 14 to 17 years old who are looking for a unique and fun place to earn community service hours and gain work experience. Teen volunteers help bring the museum alive for visitors and are given a chance to receive one-on-one coaching from our experienced staff members. They assist in sparking curiosity and igniting a love of lifelong learning by interpreting exhibit content to children, preparing programming materials, facilitating special STEAM themed activities, and assisting with special events. All that is required is an interest in supporting our mission and spending time with visitors young and old. Schedules are flexible as to work around school schedules and no experience necessary. We will work to match your skills and interests with the needs of the museum.
THE FOLLOWING ARE WAYS IN WHICH YOU CAN VOLUNTEER:
Gallery Assistant: Assist with groups and/or families visiting the museum by enthusiastically interpreting exhibits content. Help transform the visitor experience into one they are sure to remember. Must enjoy working collaboratively with young children and adults.
Special Event Staff: Assist with preparation and facilitation of special project activity tables and fundraising events.
Office Support: Assist with clerical/office work such as filing and data entry.
Birthday Experience Assistant: Assist with Birthday Experience check-in, room set up and clean up and preparation of materials.
If you would like to join our amazing teen volunteer team, please fill out an application. You should receive an automatic email confirming that we have received your application. If you do not receive this email please contact us at Volunteer@DiscoveryKidsLV.org.
Once your application has been processed, potential volunteers will be invited to attend a mandatory Volunteer Orientation before they begin volunteering. These Orientations normally take place the first Sunday of every month.
If you have questions, please feel free to contact the Volunteer Services & YouthWorks Coordinator at Volunteer@DiscoveryKidsLV.org or (702)382-3445 ext 110.
